EXCLUSIVE: How to watch the Commonwealth Games on BBC Alba

As mentioned earlier this week, BBC Alba has secured rights to broadcast the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in the Gaelic language.

It’s set to be the first time that Games will get Gaelic language coverage as Gaelic speakers were left in the cold last time Scotland hosted in 2014.

BBC Alba wants you to wait until nearer the time for you to see how to tune in, however I can exclusively reveal the exact timings for its Commonwealth Games coverage!

Coverage begins on Thursday 23rd July with the spectacular opening ceremony from The Hydro, starting at 8pm.

From Friday 24th July, BBC Alba will start up at 5pm as usual (weekdays) with “An Là” moving to 5pm, with coverage from Glasgow starting at 5:30pm right until 10pm. That’s 4 and a half hours of nightly coverage totalling around 45 hours for the duration of the Games!

Details of the closing ceremony have not yet been announced, however it will more than likely start at 8pm like the opening ceremony.
