Walt Disney Company to sue Trump and FCC over ABC licence threats
The Walt Disney Company, owners of ABC, have announced their intention to sue the Trump administration and the Federal Communications Commission in an attempt to block an early review of ABC's broadcast licences. Trump has repeatedly criticised the content on ABC. The Company alleges that Trump is using the FCC to try to get the network closed. If the review goes ahead, it would be the first time in over 50 years that an early review has been called on a network's licences. D

Beware of imposters
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so they say. I’m sure we’ve all done things to try and impersonate our favourite celebrities. But is it possible to impersonate an entire TV channel? Nay, an entire industry?? Turns out the answer is…kind of. Presenting “Kids Stars”. You could politely describe this as a lighthearted tribute to children’s TV presentation in the UK, or you could bluntly describe this as a cheap “Milkshake!” ripoff. This guy (I can’t tell if he’s

Old CBeebies logo reappears during ECP
The original CBeebies logo made a brief comeback during an end-credits promotion (ECP) on BBC Two after "The Great British Sewing Bee" last night (11th August) at around 9pm. The ECP was promoting the CBeebies Parenting platform, which has gone into promotional overdrive ahead of the back to school season. The old logo and colour scheme was used despite both being dropped in March 2023 during the final phases of the "Chameleon" rebrand. It's intriguing to know how this ended

VIDEO: NHK News refresh - 9th/10th August 2026
NHK News has issued a surprise refresh for all of its studios. The graphics themselves remain unchanged, as is the 845 regional news. The refresh was presumably designed by NHK's in-house design agency. All of the major news shows on NHK have been given a new, near identical set design with a slightly re-orchestrated version of the existing music. While "News 7" has relatively minor changes, "Good Morning Japan" and "News Watch 9" have brand new colour schemes, swapping the

Children's TV in the United States
Hi everyone, it's kennedythelogofan and this is my first post here. Today's topic is children's TV, specifically my country America. Last year in my country three kids channels closed down; Smile TV, a Christian kids channel, Universal Kids, formally PBS Kids Sprout and finally HBO Family (the American version). I was sad to see HBO Family go. I don't understand why they have to shut it down now since streaming is taking over TV channels. I will be sad if Nickelodeon, Cartoon

EXCLUSIVE: NBC's "Wordle" gameshow is actually quite good
I'm sure you've all played Wordle at least once. It's the word guessing game that had millions hooked in its peak in 2022. Now, it's being turned into a gameshow, produced by Jimmy Fallon's production company and presented by the "Today" show's Savannah Guthrie. I was involved in both the pilot episode and the eventual series. No NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) were signed, therefore I can exclusively reveal the details of how this show will work. Both the pilot and the seri

Media Central: Why I no longer watch GB News
I used to be a supporter of GB News. The reason why is because of free speech. However, I found out a couple of months ago that the channel has become antisemitic, as well as sharing homophobia attitudes & being racist. So after that, I decided to no longer supporting the news channel! I'm surprised OFCOM hasn't shut them down yet! Honestly, that channel is so horrible! It called LGBTQ people paedophiles & has been using homophobic slurs as well! This is something the BBC doe

Putting the Commonwealth Games behind a paywall reminds us why the BBC matters
Glasgow has recently been abuzz with activity due to the recent Commonwealth Games. Athletes representing 56 Commonwealth member states have been battling it out for medals in their respective sports. But you'd be forgiven for not knowing that the Games had even happened at all. Lack of proper coverage seriously harmed the publicity for the event. Just 800,000 viewers tuned in to the opening ceremony on Channel 5, with substantially lower numbers on TNT Sports. The closing ce

Channel 4 to outsource playout to...Latvia
Channel 4 has signed a multi-year contract with Encompass Digital Media to provide its linear channel playout services. The deal will come into effect in 2027 and includes Channel 4 and all of its spinoff channels such as E4 and Film4. The deal does not include Channel 4 streaming. The operations will be jointly managed from London and Riga using a cloud-native system. This will give Channel 4 a secondary playout location in the event of a DR situation, something they infamou

BBC makes significant cuts to Light Ents, with more cuts still to come
And for 150 blanks...nothing! Fans of "Blankety Blank", "Celebrity Mastermind" and "Live at The Apollo" will be very disappointed as these are the first three shows to be axed by the BBC in the Corporation's latest attempt to save money. The BBC is trying to save around £100 million. The Corporation's finances are hanging by a knife's edge as the Royal Charter goes up for renewal next year. Even more cuts at the Content (programming) division are expected to be announced soon

Commonwealth Games begins with a beautifully Scottish opening ceremony
I’m a self confessed ceremonies anorak. I’ve seen them all…multiple times. I was also fortunate to attend the last Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (check out the video on Slow Scenes UK!). So when the Games returned after 12 years it only seemed right to go again. So I did! I have absolutely no genetic connection to Birmingham, however my genetic connection to Glasgow is profound. My great grandmother was born just around the corner from where the ceremony was held. This and

A federal judge of the United States has placed the $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by the newly merged Paramount Skydance Corporation on a temporary pause after attorney generals from 12 states take legal action in an attempt to block the takeover from going ahead.
