VIDEO: NRK1 - King Harald V is dead - 28th August 2026

Norway's King Harald V has died at the age of 89. NRK was set to obit mode almost immediately after the royal house announced the king's worsening condition the previous day. NRK2 and 3 joined following the death announcement, although NRK3 broke away for a period in the afternoon for children's programming (see that in a future video).

The special edition of Dagsrevyen opened with the playing of the royal anthem of Norway, which you'll notice is set to the exact same tune is the UK's national anthem, but obviously with different words.
