Quelle surprise, Big Brother is AI generated

I would say I’m shocked, but then again I’m not. In fact I’m surprised it’s taken this long.

ITV has finally bowed to the inevitable with this year’s look for “Big Brother”, it’s AI slop writ large. A frankly bizarre advert for this year’s series features a “human” eye in a variety of strange guises - the kind of things on ChatGPT can come up with.

It certainly feels like ITV is flogging a dead horse at this point. Last year’s series recorded the worst viewing figures in the show’s history in the UK with an average of just 1.03 million. At this rate the next series could be the first to drop below a million.

Much criticism has been directed at the series since it relaunched on ITV2, from the deliberate choice to cast people with controversial political opinions to the reliance of uninteresting and frankly boring tasks. I doubt this AI version will do much to rescue the show, nor will this year’s supposed twist of a new house every week.

It’s time for some fresh new ideas. Time will tell as to whether the Sky takeover will make a difference or not. Or preferably move Big Brother back to Channel 4.
